sorry if you guys have seen this multiple times, but we need to get the word out! here's the message from Lori Beth...

Hey Kids,
We we're all set to kick off the opening night of Alter Ego tomorrow,
Friday July 3rd....but we've run into a bureaucracy snafu.
The host venue for Alter Ego (Little Miss Whiskeys Golden Dollar) is brand spanking new. So new in fact....we were given the honor opening the venue for the first time with our event.
A crew of dedicated individuals have worked round the clock to get everything ready to go. The building has passed all it's inspections and has been approved for their liquor license. (here's where the fun part starts)
The DC Gov't office in charge of getting the official paper license into the hands of the owner is moving a little slow due to the upcoming holiday weekend. In other words, it will be available Monday morning, but not today.
What does this mean for us? No booze. Yeah yeah, we know...it's a real bummer. But there's nothing we can do about it if we wanna play by the rules.
So here's the plan...
We are going to open the doors tomorrow night for an open house. A sneak preview if you will. There will be some snacks and some non-alcoholic beverages available to visitors. And DJ Shade will be playing some great music as originally planned.
If you're interested, please swing by and say hello. You're welcome to pop in and check the place out. We are so proud of it.....let us give you the tour!
And then next week, although we are scheduled to have Alter Ego on the first Friday of each month, we will do our official opening night, with booze, next Friday July 10th.
Unfortunately, the no liquor thing is out of our control for the next 5 days and we sincerely appreciate your patience with us.

pmhrh picked:

me circa 1995...my uber-punk days. that icon makes me look more goth-y, but the larger photo shows the torn fishnets, plaid skirt, and beat up doc martens...also a roller-blade-wearing
shadow27. this was the year Syracuse hosted the NCAA mens' basketball Final Four tournament, and as i worked at a record store on the main shopping drag of the campus, i felt i needed to make sure all the tourists, parents, and alumni were suitably afraid to come in the shop.

Maryland Renaissance Festival, i think on my birthday, but god knows what year. based on what i'm wearing, it's probably no earlier than 2002, but i'm not 100% sure. i do remember it was really really warm and humid that day, and raining...hence the lovely redness and sheen of my face.

ahhh, Ireland. this was taken at the Grange stone circle, part of a Neolithic settlement near Lough Gur, County Limerick. the shot is taken up the entry path toward the circle, which is made up of 113 standing stones, including 12 larger axial stones. the circle has been dated to 2000BC.

taken in Syracuse, 1994 or 1995, when i lived off Westcott. a bunch of us were getting ready to go out, and this was taken while i was (i think?) waiting for my boyfriend at the time to finish putting on his eyeliner... ;) colorizing done by
molenn, which makes the picture look a lot sadder than the original (in the full version you can see my lipstick or something in my hands, which i'm looking down at). originally my AIM user icon.

"What Would Flying Spaghetti Monster Do?"
words we can all live by, as we all hail His Noodly Appendage.

last but not least, my two favorite bois in the world,
winstonasmith and Max. this was only maybe a month or two after we adopted Max, and our life has never been the same since...
